A fully-resourced, detailed and differentiated lesson which serves as an introduction to religion, freedom of expression and human rights issues. The lesson explores present day global issues and conflicts, whilst analysing scripture and recent court cases. The focus is on Christianity and Islam, from clothing and burkinis to LGBT+ cakes and freedom of speech.
This is perfect as part of a KS3/KS4 RE unit and has been created for the EC Publishing Year 9 RE Package.

6 hours of lessons about religious philosophy, questions of evil, ethics, God and the Devil, existence and suffering. Created as an introduction to philosophy for a KS3 RE unit - includes end of unit assessment and full scheme of work.
Originally created for KS3 but easily editable for KS4 as lots of GCSE-prep style activities.
Includes: 5 x PowerPoints (one is a double lesson), differentiated worksheets for all tasks, clips with question activities, group tasks, debate tasks, classroom philosophical experiments, extended writing essay and literacy focus tasks - everything you need to teach an engaging short KS3 unit.

A 25 minute Tutor Time session all about why veganism and vegetarianism are increasing in popularity. The session investigates whether these ways of eating are healthier, why people believe it is difficult to be vegan and the main reasons why people are taking up diets that avoid animal products. The session contains three challenge learning outcomes, slides of easy to digest information, a clip task with differentiated questions, a quiz and final reflection task. The session is editable and been created to be perfect to just pick up and use. The slides in the previews are just a sample and not the whole session.

It can easily be printed out and given to students without even having to explain any of the terminology as all explanation is here for them. There are lots of quotes for students to study and remember, all highlighted in bold with exact Qur’an references. There is a section for students to complete and RAG-rate as they study and test themselves, so they know what they need to come back to. This pack covers themes A, C, D, E and F. These packs are great to set as homeworks, revision tasks or to use in lessons as assessments. Everything is editable, in student speak and all of the exam prep tasks are differentiated.
Also included: a 12 mark question peer assessment grid for AQA RS 9-1 GCSE (produced originally for Spec A, but works under the same principle for other AQA specs and is editable). Can be used for any 12 mark question and has been written in student speak based on the AQA assessment materials. There is a space for students to fill in the question being assessed as well as guidance on how to give appropriate peer assessment feedback. It can be used again and again in lessons and has been created to save time.

Students will take part in designing a range of clothing for an Islamic fashion show, that needs to please both a religiously conservative and liberal audience. A one hour lesson focusing on the arguments against God based on the problem of suffering and evil. It encourages students to consider a variety of philosophical arguments for and against God and to tackle them from different perspectives using new terminology. This was used in for GCSE RS Thematic Studies AQA (9-1) - but is adaptable for other exam boards or KS3.
